The Aging & Disabilities (AD) Department is designated by the State of California Department of Aging (CDA) to operate as the Los Angeles County (Planning Service Area 19) Area Agency on Aging (AAA). Established under the Older Americans Act of 1965, AAAs play a crucial role in coordinating and providing a wide range of services that help older adults maintain their independence and quality of life.

These programs include the Elderly Nutrition Program, Supportive Services Program, Family Caregiver Support Program, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Senior Community Service Employment Program, Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP), as well as the Legal Assistance Program.
