Deane Dana Friendship Park and Nature Center offers breath-taking panoramic views of San Pedro, Santa Catalina Island and the Los Angeles / Long Beach harbor complex. Comprised of 123 acres, it is also home to the beautiful, captive-bred and federally endangered Palos Verdes Blue butterfly. The park also offers recreational activities including hiking trails, field trips, nature camps and a Nature Center.

Tiny Tot parent participation Program
Animal Ambassador themed educational program for birthday parties. Includes gift for birthday boy/girl and use of designated picnic shelter.
Program designed to introduction children to wildlife and habitats at Deane Dana Friendship Park Natural Area.
The Animal Ambassador program introduces participants to wildlife that are common in an urban setting.
The Natural Areas Division staff participate in Los Angeles County Park After Dark Program introducing the public to resources available at our facilties. A booth space and canopy if generally required.
Naturalist staff are available to participate at any County or outside agency summer program. Nature themed programs are available upon request.
Participants will learn all about cold-blooded creatures with fun activities and up-close encounters with live tortoises, snakes, and amphibians.
Participants will earn their Junior Park Ranger badge by completing the Junior Ranger guide filled with puzzles and activities.
Educational program with a focus on nocturnal raptors such as the Great Horned Owl.
Educational program promoting preservation and understanding of urban wildlife specificially coyotes.

Summer program available to teens 13yrs or older. Participants will be exposed to natural sciences through hands on research and field trips. Limited to fist 15 participants.
Boyscouts will be able to earn their perspective badges through education and activities. In addition, scouts will receive a Deane Dana Friendship Park pin and patch.
