Blalock Wildlife Sanctuary is named after Lorena and Richard Blalock, entrepreneurs who purchased the land in the 1940’s and donated 140 acres of the Longview area of the Antelope Valley to Los Angeles County with the concern of preserving open space and the rural atmosphere of southern Antelope Valley foothill communities. The sanctuary is located within the sparsely-populated area of the southeast Antelope Valley and contains some of the most diverse plant and natural wildlife in Antelope Valley.
